STEAM Camp

Our mission at STEAM Camp is to have a positive impact on each student through active games, creative artwork, creating new friendships, and learning. We genuinely hope your child’s experience at camp is one that will create many lasting memories.

The vision of STEAM Camp is to provide exciting, engaging, and fun lessons and materials that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and reasoning skills in support of the school day. Our curriculum ensures materials are age and skill-level appropriate. The activities and topics in each subject are matched to national standards in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, art, STEM, and SEL. Our focus is to provide fun hands-on activities. Your child will also participate in physical education through fun outdoor and indoor games.

Ages: Grades 1st-5th
Days: Offered for 6 Saturdays
October 8, October 15, October 22, October 29, November 5, and November 12
Times: 1st-2nd Grade from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
3rd-5th Grade from 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Cost: $53 per Saturday Per Child / $39.75 with In-District Discount
Location: Steven A Shy Activity Center, 311 East "D" St in Central Park (map)
(Building at the back of Phillip Marx Central Park, Mojave and E Street, next to the restrooms)

Students will use collaboration, cooperation, planning, and observation as they design and build bridges using geometry, addition, and subtraction skills.
Saturday, November 12 Spreading the Word:
All the Colors
Lesson Focus:
Students will use creativity and imagination as they create biographical portraits of someone they know.

Lesson Focus:
Students will use collaboration, logical reasoning, observation, and planning while investigating, creating, and testing the science of levers.
Saturday, October 15 Math Matters:
Gateway to the West
Lesson Focus:
Students will use critical observation, analysis, logical reasoning, and teamwork while learning about area using math and creating arches with mathematical parameters.
Saturday, October 22 Spreading the Word:
Put on Your Thinking Cap
Lesson Focus:
Students will use listening, creativity, imagination, ingenuity, and language skills as they design and create thinking caps.
Saturday, October 29 Exploration:
Zippity-Do-Dah
Lesson Focus:
Students will use logical reasoning and critical observation as they design and create zip lines, using engineering skills.
Saturday, November 5 Math Matters:
Water Under the Bridge
Lesson Focus:
Students will use collaboration, cooperation, planning, critical observation, and logical-mathematical reasoning as they explore standard and nonstandard measurement while designing and building bridges.
Saturday, November 12 Spreading the Word:
Coloring Outside the Lines
Lesson Focus:
Students will use mind mapping, decision making, and lateral thinking while creating a biography of an inspiring person.
